Bricco Asinari 2009

A surprise for some but not for us who knew this wine in the past to be capable of absorbing some excesses of too much wood in its youth. This bottle is excellent with the wood well under control. Its bouquet opens with a wonderful floral streak of various types of violets, together with an almost Barolo-like rose, alongside an explosive vein of young fruit, above all blackberry and blueberry. The taste is firm and composed and quite austere with the alcoholic component held in check and an important progression, all supported by an elegant and incisive acidity that was harnessed in by the wine's compactness. The finish is very important and persistent.
