Barolo Cannubi S.Lorenzo Ravera 1999

'Citrico' rarely misses the mark. Some people turn their noses up at his very young Barolo wines, but once a few years have gone by and when there is such an extraordinary vintage as this pleasure is guaranteed. The color is a deep red, with nice consistency. The bouquet is an explosion of little red fruits, of an inspired tar, with slightly smoked notes, of sweet tobacco. The taste is still cutting, with expressive and sumptuous tannins. While it is austere, it is very rewarding to the palate, especially if it accompanies a nice brasato pot roast.
