Made from 60% Pugnitello grapes and 40% Sangiovese, aged in small, French oak barrels for 18 months. The grapes are from Montalcino, grown in the Campogiovanni vineyard. It has a very intense and concentrated garnet color. The bouquet is austere, scents of sour cherry, rhubarb, spices and a tad of tar in the background, which makes it broad and articulated at the same time. The taste is full, rich, the tannins are thick but spread out, consistent with its Montalcino origins, to the extent that it could be considered to be 'Brunello-esque'. The finish is long and warm, although a little monotonous.
