It is quite moving to look at that hand-written label, faded by time, on the bottle that has sat in my cellar since my university days. I bought three bottles back then directly from the winery, the first of this producer who was already an idol for me, spending most of my cash that I was supposed to use to pay university fees and buy books. The wine now has a bold, brick color with distinct orange nuances. The aromas are inebriating, with whole fruit syrup, cherries under spirits and orange marmalade. It is amazing how broad, intense and detailed the aromatic spectrum is. The mouthfeel is rotund, with a sugar residue that gives an aura of softness which voluptuously caresses the palate. Rarely have I experience such a deep, meditative pleasure on note that only a very great wine can offer.
Price: 5-600 euros even if it is priceless.
