Michelin Stars Italy 2023

Yesterday, Tuesday, Nov. 8th, the Michelin Guide 2023 Italy Star Awards ceremony took place, here are the news:
The Villa Crespi restaurant in Orta San Giulio, led by Chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo conquers 3 Michelin stars and enters the Gotha of world catering. In the enchanting setting of Lake Orta, inside the historic Moorish-style mansion immersed in a centuries-old park, the path to this extraordinary success began in 2003 with the awarding of the first MICHELIN star, followed by the awarding of the second in 2006. Sixteen years later, the Campania chef wins the o MICHELIN, an award reserved for fewer than 140 restaurants in the world. "In his dishes, Chef Cannavacciuolo puts his heart, indeed his soul as one of his menus states, but also technique, balance and aesthetic precision that translate for the guest into pure emotions. His dishes are intoxicating creations with clean, distinct flavors, enhanced by tasting itineraries through which he ranges from Campania to Piedmont with a nonchalance that makes the most difficult things appear simple, a skill reserved for great chefs, says Sergio Lovrinovich, Director Michelin Guide Italy. Through the confirmation of all the restaurants or the last edition, the 68th edition of the MICHELIN Guide brings to 12 the number of restaurants that are "worth the trip" to Italy: Villa Crespi Orta San Giulio (NO) new entry, Piazza Duomo in Alba (CN), Da Vittorio in Brusaporto (BG), St. Hubertus, in San Cassiano (BZ), Le Calandre in Rubano (PD), Dal Pescatore in Canneto Sull'Oglio (MN), Osteria Francescana in Modena, Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence, La Pergola in Rome, Reale in Castel di Sangro (AQ), Mauro Uliassi in Senigallia (AN), and Enrico Bartolini at Mudec in Milan.
The ceremony, presented by Petra Loreggian and livestreamed, was a roller coaster of emotions: 38 new stars covering 13 regions of which 4 new entries in the two-star category, or restaurants worth the detour: Acquolina - Rome - chef Daniele Lippi; Enoteca La Torre - Rome - chef Domenico Stile; St. George by Heinz Beck - Taormina - chef Salvatore Iuliano; Locanda Sant'Uffizio Enrico Bartolini - Penango - chef Gabriele Boffa. In the Michelin Guide Italy 2023, 33 new restaurants are awarded a star. These include the awarding of the m to Cannavacciuolo Vineyard, a restaurant in Casanova di Terricciola in the province of Pisa, led by young chef Marco Suriano: further good news for Antonino Cannavacciuolo.
Also noteworthy is the awarding of a star to a vegetarian restaurant, I Tenerumi, a restaurant on the island of Vulcano, which is also awarded a green star for its commitment to more sustainable cuisine. Among the 38 new entries, there are 20 chefs aged 35 or younger, 6 of whom are aged 35 or under 30. One fact to note: all of the chefs in the new one-star restaurants are under the age of 35. "Italy particularly impressed our inspectors this year, who awarded 38 new stars, including a new three-star entering the Olympus of Italian gastronomy: Villa Crespi," commented Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of Michelin Guides. "This 2023 Selection of the Michelin Guide encompasses 385 starred restaurants led by chefs with very different profiles. This is a new record for the peninsula and underscores how the tradition of Italian cuisine and innovation are a perfect combination for exceptional culinary experiences, rich in emotion, history and conviviality." The Michelin Guide Italy 2023 starred panorama : 335 one-star restaurants (33 new); 38 two-star restaurants (4 new); 12 three-star restaurants (1 new), for a total of 385 starred restaurants.
