wine2wine 2019 forum vinitaly international academy

The wine business forum wine2wine, scheduled in Verona on 25 and 26 November, this year addresses the sustainability closely related to the Wine Industry.

"This year we can't miss the appointment. With these words Stevie Kim, director of Vinitaly International Academy and one of the organizers of the event, presented the Wine2Wine to be held on 25 and 26 November at the VeronaFiere convention centre. This year the Vinitaly business forum will talk about sustainability. "Obviously referring to the wine context - says Stevie Kim - but also and above all as regards the ecological and social aspects. This year's testimonial on this very complex and delicate issue will be Benjamin Yannick, Co-founder of Wine on Wheels & Wheeling Forward, owner of the restaurant "Contento" in New York and Head Sommelier at The University Club. In 2003, he was paralysed by an extremely serious road accident. But that didn't stop him. And it was precisely the world of wine and catering that "saved his life", or rather, as he himself says, "was a triumph over the tragedy".

The speakers will be the crucial point of these meetings. People like Bruce Sanderson, Julia Coney, Hannah Luxenberg Tono, Heini Zachariassen, Kristina Kelby, Lenz Moser, Sonal Holland, Adam Teeter, Maureen Downey, Andrè Riberinho, Elizabeth Schneider, just to name a few. And then producers who will moderate the meetings, but who will become the protagonists, asking questions, asking, perhaps opening the debates, such as Mateja Gravner, Angelo Peretti, Antonio Capaldo, Matilde Poggi, Andrea Sartori, Marilisa Allegrini, Camilla Lunelli, just to name those Italians.

"Wine2wine confirms itself as the event for networking, updating and training in the wine sector - says Giovanni Mantovani, general manager of VeronaFiere - A format that is always evolving and capable of intercepting trends and needs of operators and the market, also through a synergic matching between Italian companies and the international wine industry. A project that reaffirms the ability of Veronafiere and Vinitaly to create added value on the wine system, thanks to constant commitment and monitoring, active all year round". Stevie Kim also focuses on synergistic matching: "Those who take part in the meetings then have the opportunity to go home with practical examples to be implemented after only half a day".

This year's wine2wine aims to tackle sustainability closely linked to the Wine Industry and to develop a series of in-depth studies on ecological and social aspects. Climate change is there for all to see and has a direct effect on wine production. Organic and biodynamic wines have attracted the attention of producers at a global level so as to encourage them to move in the search for new solutions. During the two days in Verona, therefore, there will be the possibility for wine business professionals and producers to stay informed about the evolution of changes. And once back in the company, they will have the opportunity to concretely apply the notions and ideas received during the experts' speeches. In short, it is an approach to the future and at the same time find moments of analysis on how the wine community intends to address the international market.

An interesting part is dedicated to the social aspect of the theme. A real focus on awareness of the impacts, both positive and negative, that the wine business has along the entire value chain of wine. The forum will try to make people understand how social sustainability consists in cultivating business practices for the promotion of integration and well-being at work. For all operators in the sector, this means joining forces and cooperating to make the wine community more inclusive, diverse, democratic, equitable and cohesive.
