Presentazione libro “Là dove si coltiva la vite. 50 storie intorno al Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg”

The Consortium for the Protection of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Docg has presented the editorial project that closes a year full of achievements, not only economic.

The Conegliano Valdobbiadene winemakers are not only proud of the approximately 92 million bottles with which this year 2019 will close. An important year is drawing to a close. The history of this territory and of the people who live there has undergone unexpected and positive moments of acceleration in the last century; people and families have been able, even in the darkest years, to organize themselves, to act and to transform stories of fatigue and poverty into stories of economic and social success.

In order to give due recognition to the commitment of the inhabitants of these hills, the Consorzio di Tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Docg presented "Là dove si coltiva la vite.  50 storie intorno al Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg" (50 stories about Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg) is a publication published by Antiga edizioni, which collects fifty stories from the territory through which it gives a faithful and engaging portrait.

"Gathering contributions and testimonies to write this volume was like retracing the history of our Denomination.  My hope is that the intention behind this project will translate into the emotion of the reader to leaf through these pages and live with us the pride of being part of this story," says Innocente Nardi, President of the Consorzio di Tutela.  "This volume is the first stage of a journey, of a story that is still long to write and that we are sure will find new narrators in future generations".

The story is developed through different types of testimonies: from period photographs to the stories of those who have lived the entire life of the Denomination up to the words of poets and writers of the territory who immortalize it in pages and crystalline verses.  The result is a narration, supported by the contributions of expert academics, which proceeds on different registers but which together make up a single harmony capable of highlighting all the potential of the territory.

From the economic redemption of a land where hunger has been suffered, to the entrepreneurial success of stubborn and creative people capable of imagining different paths starting from a row of vines.  Around the wine and at the foot of these hills has been built an economic induced demonstration of the entrepreneurial ability of the territory that always has the goal of excellence in all its expressions.  The wine economy has been able to develop in these places due to the fortunate coincidence of natural and cultural factors: the land and the right climate for the cultivation of the Glera but also the presence of an institution such as the Oenological School, where the national oenological management class was formed.

But it is not only economic wealth that is the key to this success.  Well-being has led to the enhancement of popular traditions, gastronomy, for example, from a simple sustenance becomes a reason for tourist attraction and the landscape is a worthy setting.  The farmhouses, caséi and casère, meeting places for tasty snacks based on cold cuts and bubbles, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore of course.

Là dove si coltiva la vite. 50 storie intorno al Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg

The volume alternates sections of photographs and infographics, carefully edited texts, documents, historical windows and author's contributions; it is not limited to narrating the history of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, but leaves open the narration through 50 chapters that describe a territory, a landscape, cultural and artistic reality which has recently been awarded the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
