The Master of Spain: Vega Sicilia (2)

As we saw yesterday, the ‘recent’, if you can call a 25-year-old wine that, vintages achieve truly fantastic heights but then the ability of Vega Sicilia to age is almost embarrassing. I have had the luck to have tasted some bottles from the early 20th century that were still incredibly intact. The extreme balance between its components are probably what makes this wine outstanding in its category.

Always at the discretion of the enologist, in some years a certain number of barriques of Vega Sicilia made from grapes from old vines and different vintages can be used to obtain one of the most extraordinary blends in the world, Vega Sicilia Unico Réserva Especial, a nectar reserved for a select few.
