Calice spumante Lessini Durello

The event dedicated to signature bubbles born in the Lessini Mountains, between Verona and Vicenza, is back. Volcano, longevity, classic method, the key words of edition number twenty-one, which will welcome among the "friends" the Corpinnat Classic Method sparkling wines, produced in the Penedès area.

On Sunday, November 19 and Monday, November 20, Durello & Friends, the event dedicated to the bubbles of Verona and Vicenza, returns. This year's event will take place in the spaces of Galleria Filippini (Ex-Macello Market) in Verona. The happy liaison between "volcanicity" and "longevity" is also consolidated for this year's edition.

Lessini Durello, born from the indigenous Durella grape and a symbol of Berico-Scaligera sparkling wine-making, is in fact produced in the Lessini Mountains, a foothill area of markedly volcanic origin.

Celebrating the event's twenty-first birthday will be more than twenty member companies of the Consortium that will offer tastings of their best interpretations of Lessini Durello both Metodo Classico and Charmat Method.

Alongside the bubbles native to Verona and Vicenza, friends will also be offered for tasting, which for this year's edition will be the Corpinnat Metodo Classico sparkling wines, the collective brand born in the historic Catalan region of Penedès.

For experts and wine enthusiasts, two author masterclasses

Special attention has been paid to the public of experts and enthusiasts who are following the evolution of Lessini Durello with growing interest. Just for them, two very targeted masterclasses with different focuses have been conceived: the first "Lessini Durello & Corpinnat: friends comparing", during which participants will be guided by a professional to discover the different peculiarities of classic method sparkling wines produced in different terroirs; the second one entitled "Lessini Durello: the Classic Method sparkling wine of today and tomorrow", where instead the focus will be totally on the Durella grape and the aging capacity of Lessini Durello.

Durello Journalist, Durello Ambassador, Durello Restaurateur Award.

The Durello Journalist Award is established by the Consorzio di Tutela with the idea of rewarding those journalists who have written an article, or produced a TV or radio report, such as to highlight the peculiarities of the production area, its history, and the producers.

Subsequently, the Durello Ambassador Award was also established for those who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of activity in popularizing and telling the story of the doc, and the Durello Restaurateur Award dedicated to wine merchants and restaurateurs who have fostered awareness of Lessini Durello and pushed it into tasting and serving.

The handover ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 19.

For the duration of the festival, the fresh and fine bubbles offered for tasting will be accompanied by tasty dishes inspired by seasonality and traditional flavors.

Lessini Durello, la DOC
The Lessini Durello designation was established in 1988 and refers to a hilly, foothill area, the Lessini Mountains, straddling the provinces of Verona and Vicenza.
About 400 hectares are currently claimed and there are 34 wineries associated with the protection consortium. About one million bottles are produced each year, 85 percent of which are Charmat and 15 percent Metodo Classico.
The soil has a volcanic origin, evidenced by the strong presence in the area of columnar basalts and material originating from eruptive activity.
