Il Pollenza vertical tasting

If there is a great Bordeaux wine in the Marche, it is the one produced by the wineries of Il Pollenza, in the Tolentino area of the Macerata hills.

In the 2000s, Count Aldo Maria Brachetti Peretti, an oil tycoon, decided to build a winery at the center of a majestic estate of more than 200 hectares, sixty of which are planted with vines. His idea of a cosmopolitan man found inspiration in Bordeaux, and undoubtedly the result was a winery that recalls in every way a Bordeaux Château. We are located in the Macerata Hills, in Tolentino, and the result of this huge investment is a winery that is a spectacle. One of the most beautiful in Italy, surrounded by stunning countryside. Worth a visit, in short, even if here we are not in the center of an area considered particularly suited for viticulture.

But whether it is because of the hand of Giacomo Tachis, a friend of the count, who set the wines, or because of the investments made, or because of Brachetti Peretti's entrepreneurial skills, the fact remains that there is no doubt that the wines come out well here. 

Last June 12, I had the privilege of conducting, together with Carlo Ferrini, one of Italy's greatest winemakers, a vertical tasting of 7 vintages of the winery's flagship wine, the one that bears its name, a Bordeaux blend of great caliber. The atmosphere was very atmospheric, in the rooms of the count's house here in Rome, and the tasting turned out to be really interesting, with wines that were nothing short of extraordinary.
