Enrico Menicalli Tenute Pedra Niedda

The “black stone” of Monte Arci, in Marmilla, composes the soil where Enrico Menicalli has set up his young estate. His first wines have remarkable character.

Marmilla may be a little-known area from a winemaking point of view yet, situated on the southern border of the Nuoro province, it offers breathtaking views of wild, rare elegance. In the northern part, in the zone of Monte Arci, the soil is volcanic, rich in obsidians mixed with clay.

It was here, in the town of Villa Verde, that a young Tuscan decided to move and bring with him his passion for producing wine. Enrico Menicalli, who studied agronomy and has work experiences in Tuscany, Australia and Azerbaijan, focused his attention exclusively on Sardinian varietals, Cannonau and Semidano, in particular.

The estate is only taking its first steps but already has clear ideas what it wants to do: head-trained vines, spontaneous fermentation and no chemical products in the vineyard. The wines have remarkable character and are made with methods that respect the land and the varietal.

Tittia Terra dei Nuraghi Bianco 2018

93 - € 12,00

Made from Semidano grapes and fermented and matured 50% in stainless steel and 50% in wood. The wine has a bright, yellow color and wrapping aromas of Mediterranean shrubs and flint. The bold mouthfeel is very balanced with incisive marine and even iodine notes. The progression is vibrant and the finish deep and austere.

Basca Terra dei Nuraghi Rosso 2018

90 -  € 12,00

Made from Cannonau grapes and fermented and matured 80% in stainless steel and 20% in wood. A bright ruby color and a classic bouquet of spice and Mediterranean shrubs. The mouthfeel is agile with lively and juicy tannins that are very fine and elegant. The finish is fresh with a nice persistence.
