A bend of mostly Aglianico with the addition of some Piedirosso that has a dark, impenetrable red color. A favorite of Robert Parker, when it came out he almost gave it his highest rating. This vintage was, in my view, the best in recent history. The bouquet is very strange yet original with notes of earth, bark and garigue while the fruit component comes out much later. The structure of the mouthfeel is enormous and consistent, very bold, saturating and baroque. A wine for those who live colossal structure.
