Another average year with a difficult harvest but Sassicaia overcame these obstacles with the class of a great racehorse. This is certainly lesser wine than the 1988 and ’90 but this does not make any less ‘human’ for those of us who love it. Its principle traits are its immediacy and drinkability. Red fruit stands out in the fragrant and intense aroma that also has a hint of spice The mouthfeel is smooth, flowing and pleasing with the fruit returning in the aftertaste.
