Made from Montepulciano grapes grown at the Alanno estate and matured on the lees in wood barrels for 12 months. The wine has a dark but not opaque ruby color and the bouquet opens on ferrous notes that shift to darker scents of tobacco on a background of orange and black cherry. The mouthfeel plays on the tannins and acidity and has a “dark nervousness” that is difficult to find in other wines in the area, while the tannins are straightforward. Overall not too profound.
