Villa della Torre Allegrini - Esterni

A 16th-century villa in the heart of Valpolicella, it is now owned by Marilisa Allegrini, who has transformed it into a splendid Relais.

Villa Della Torre, among the rarest and most precious jewels of the Italian Renaissance, is the work of the masters Giulio Romano and Michele Sanmicheli, who designed its forms between the late 1440s and 1562 in Fumane di Valpolicella, following the model of the Domus Romana. Purchased in 2008 by Marilisa Allegrini, it now houses a Wine&Art Relais and is home to the Villa Della Torre winery, a project overseen by Marilisa's daughters Carlotta and Caterina.

The construction is mainly due to the will and intuition of Giulio Della Torre, an intellectual of great culture, a humanist capable of important social, political and religious relations. The originality of the precious building lies entirely in its conception: not just a country residence built for utilitarian purposes and linked to the agricultural activities of the estate, but a place designed for the peace of body and soul according to the canons set by the writers of Latinity, so beloved by the Italian humanistic tradition. The Villa is a representation of a spiritual and cognitive journey, starting from the Underworld and ascending to Paradise, in a succession of symbols linked to religious and secular culture and a series of refined antinomies. A mix of secularism and sense of the sacred in full coherence with the profile of the Della Torre Family, convinced humanists indeed, but also in strong connection with the Church, especially with the great bishop Gian Matteo Giberti and the Circle of the Spirituals.

The Wine&Art Relais at Villa Della Torre is part of the monumental complex of the same name, where 10 luxury rooms dedicated to the excellent wines of the Allegrini house and to the personalities who have made the villa great are located in two separate nuclei. These rooms, with attention to every detail, are equipped with high-quality handcrafted furniture, four-poster double bed, shower cabin with Turkish bath and chromotherapy, and the most modern comforts, to ensure maximum relaxation and supreme well-being. Immersed in nature and history, they enjoy a privileged view of the surrounding vineyard, thanks to large balconies and windows, which provide unique and evocative views.

Exclusively for guests, two new "Villa Della Torre" wines enrich the offer, born from a project based on the enhancement of two territories with a strong identity and great oenological vocation: Valpolicella Classica and Lugana.

The Villa also has its own cultural life: as in the Renaissance, it still hosts intense dialogues between Italian and European intellectuals of various skills and interests who meet here periodically and have elected the domus antiqua as their important "point of reference."
