Tasca d'Almerita triumphs in London: Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia awarded for "The Most Original Wine List in Europe 2023" category by The World of Fine Wine.

The award in the category "The Most Original Wine List in Europe" of the year 2023 was given to Tenuta Capofaro, located on the island of Salina, the most authentic of the Aeolian Islands with vineyards overlooking the sea, since 2001 owned by the Tasca d'Almerita family, 200 years of history behind it and five estates between the Sicilian hinterland and the islands.

As The World of Fine Wine mentions on its website, "this is an award reserved for those who have been able to innovate the wine list, demonstrating expertise, experience and passion in the field," all values that sum up the unwavering commitment of Giulio Bruni, sommelier and manager of Tenuta Capofaro. His original idea behind the creation of the Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia wine list is a wine atlas that highlights the wine proposals of the entire territory through special geographic connotations that can provide fundamental information that decrees its flavors, aromas and colors.

"We have chosen to tell the story of wine through its geographical coordinates with the aim of enhancing the places where it has been produced with constant dedication," explains Giulio Bruni, -the link between wine and the territory, at the basis of the concept of wine geography that we always try to transfer is inescapable, and man's task is to interpret the complexity of this relationship as best he can. A wine must always express its geographical sense, describe its place of origin, communicate its territoriality: a marriage between territory (understood as a combination of soil, subsoil and climate) and agricultural and artisanal customs, traditions, so deeply rooted that they become territorial." Then he concludes, "This is an important achievement achieved thanks to Alberto Tasca and his vision of wine geography. His point of view, experience in the field and passion for the territory have been decisive for this work."

After a meticulous selection of the various proposals, a careful international jury composed of world champion sommeliers, master sommeliers and wine experts voted and awarded, for the second consecutive time, the attention and professionalism of Tasca d'Almerita, giving new luster to the Aeolian Estate, within which is Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia, a project of high Mediterranean hospitality that has already distinguished itself over time for demonstrating high standards in responsible hotellerie, as demonstrated by the Sustainability Trophy won in 2020.

Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia, surrounded by 4.5 hectares of land, was created with the aim of enhancing the area and enriching the experience of wine lovers who come to Salina to taste Malvasia, a wine that contains within it the scents of the island, the sea and the volcanic lands that surround it.

For wine lovers, Tasca d'Almerita creates a program of events aimed at enhancing the territory and its best-known raw materials.

Oct. 1-6 COOK THE FARM goes fishing with Fabrizia Tasca Lanza, a program of gastronomic discovery led by one of the most acclaimed popularizers of Sicilian culture.
