Masi Verticale Amarone Costasera

"The Evolution of Amarone Costasera and its Riserva" is the title of the vertical tasting that focused on the different decades starting from 1958, having in the tasting the Amarone Classico Masi, later called Costasera, to which was added for two decades the Riserva Costasera, characterized for the addition of the ancient grape Oseleta to the classic blend.

On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Giobatta Boscaini's first harvest at Vajo dei Masi, back in 1772, a truly unique tasting was held at the winery's headquarters, covering the winery's Amarone with wines spanning seven decades of history, from 1958 to 2016.

This long journey through time was made possible thanks to the century-old private "library" of Masi Amarone. Amarone that is made from Corvina grapes in large majority, with balances of Oseleta, Rondinella and Molinara and that matures for at least two years, which become three and a half for the Riserva type, in large Slavonian oak barrels.

The latest vintages are offered in wine shops at 36 euros while the Riserva reaches 55. For older vintages, of course, prices go up and some bottles are almost unobtainable.
