Villa Barbi 2016, when the sea is home

Or better was home because the soil of Decugiano dei Barbi is rich in marine fossils which give Orvieto Classico Villa Barbi a strong saline imprint.
The wines from this estate situated in splendid green, Umbrian hills, not far from Orvieto, all have one thing in common: the sea. This is because the vines that produce the grapes are rooted deep in a soil full of marine fossils and this subsoil imposes its brackish characteristics to all the estate’s wines. And while one of the wines is even named Maris, the marine notes of Villa Barbi are no less evident.
