The everyday nature of Ripasso Sartori

Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Valdimezzo 2014 from Sartori is easy to approach and even easier to find, a wine you can drink every day.
Although Ripasso and Valpolicella are not that popular among Italian wine lovers, Ripasso is appreciated by less demanding consumers and American fans of Italian wines. Strange as it may seem, the wine is both looked down up and appreciated for the same reasons: Ripasso is a soft wine that is easy to approach, understand and (fortunately) even easy to drink. Despite this, it is a wine that pairs well at the table with a variety of dishes even if it goes best with strews, goulash, pot roasts and similar preparations. It is also good with spicy food thanks to its aforementioned softness. Its success also has to do with the fact that many consider it to be a kind of ‘little’, everyday Amarone.
Sartori is a colossal Valpolicella winery that produces both quality and quantity in a full range wines. Valdimezzo is their Ripasso produced for supermarkets thus not only is it easy to find but it also has a good quality/price ratio.
This vintage 2014 lacks a bit of texture at the center of the mouth but despite this admirably lives up to expectations. The aromas are focused and the tannins are not bitter at all.
