Centuno, a Nero d’Avola from CVA

In the sunny and warm area of Canicatti, the CVA winery is producing modern and technically advanced wines at reasonable prices even for their cru line.
CVA Canicatti is a wine cooperative that is anything but what the stereotype would imply. It is, in fact, a modern winery that has been active for over 40 years but has its focus on the future. It is run with the managerial talent of its president Giovanni Greco while the technical side is in the qualified hands of Tonino Guzzo, an enologist who is responsible for some very great Sicilian wines.
This explains why they have embarked on a line of production aimed at contradicting the vox populi that large Sicilian wineries produce quantity without quality. Here, in fact, the focus is on quality, territory and markets in a virtuous cycle involving many participating small producers.
Canicatti is one of the sunniest and hottest areas in Sicily and the vineyards of the cooperative’s members are in this town as well as nearby ones in the Agrigento hinterland. The cooperative’s 480 winegrowers have around 1,000 hectares of vineyards situated in 60 different winegrowing areas with soils that are chalky-sandy with a medium density situated at altitudes ranging from 200 to 600m above sea level.
Thanks to an agreement with the Agrigento Valle dei Templi Park, CVA also works a vineyard that lies within the park and below the Giunone temple.
