Pienza, a place of Porter and mystery

Robust Porter from Brasseria della Fonte is a satisfying and accessible drop with a pleasing toasted appeal and excellent balance in regard to its bitterness.
About 900m from the center of Pienza, heading south, is the medieval church Pieve di Corsignano, one of the most mysterious places around the city of Piccolomini. Dark and mysterious is also how you could describe this Robust Porter from craft brewer Brasseria della Fonte, which is some three kilometers away.
Created in June 2016 and with much less symbolism than the nearby Romanesque site, the brewery of Samuele Cesaroni is located in a holiday farm complex (Podere Fonte Bertusi di Sopra ) and has distinguished itself not only for its clean style and consistent production but above all for its cultivation of 430 hop plants. The attention paid to the ingredients is maniacal, starting with the malts and then the hops and spices, as is that for the production facility.
Of the over ten brews produced, here we have selected their black Porter, the product of a truly record mix of malts , with the Pale malt playing the leading role accompanied by the toasted Brown, Chocoate, Carafa II Special and roasted Barley just to name a few. Its satisfying flavor makes it an accessible drop with a pleasing toasted appeal and an excellent balance in regard to its bitterness. The color is an inebriating black that is so dark that it seems to disguise bizzare flavors, passionate suggestions and dark knowledge, just like the crypt in the nearby Pieve di Corsignano church.
