Le Forconate Vini a Tavola

The new generation of the Barbanera family has decided to invest in the land and dedicate themselves to hospitality and producing wine.

The Le Forconate estate is part of the Barbanera galaxy, a family known in the world for its involvement with wine for the past three generations. They have always been wine bottlers and the new generations have taken up the challenge of totally owning and running their own estate, where they can fulfill their creativity from the vine to the finished bottle. Le Forconate is situated at the feet of Monte Cetona, between Valdichiana and Val d’Orcia, a little-known area that is producing excellent results.

There are some 28 hectares of vineyards with Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Vermentino and… Sagrantino, a decidedly creative choice. At the estate they are putting the finishing touches on a new winery that will hold some 130 barriques and produce around 3,000hl of wine. The production style is modern, has class and there is no excess use of wood for the wines which are balanced and very well made.

Rasole 2016

91/100 - € 28

A blend of 50% Sangiovese, 20% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc that matures in barriques (70% new) for 24 months. The color is a compact and intense ruby and the aroma still has some sweet spice along with red and, above all, dark fruit, also nice and ripe. The mouthfeel is thick and progressive with tight tannins and a flavorful and intense finish. There is a nice balance between the alcohol and acidity.

Bottles produced: 13,000.

Ticche 2017

89/100 - € 20

A blend of Sangiovese and Merlot that matures in barriques for at least 12 months. A classic, slightly garnet ruby color with intense aromas of marasca cherry and small red fruit and despite the hot year there are no cooked or overripe notes. The mouthfeel is lithe, drinkable and very balanced with a nice freshness and polished tannins. The progression is good and the finish is slightly warm, reflecting the year.

Bottles produced: 30,000.
