Something new from Mamoiada
The Cadinu family of Mamoiada has five hectares of Cannonau vineyards that are between 90 to 130 years old and situated at altitudes ranging from 650 to 800m above sea level. Up until a few years ago the wine they made was sold in bulk but it still attracted the attention of experts and simple consumers. This because it was a very expressive, deep and surprisingly well-made red considering the limited means the family had.
Finally, Francesco Cadinu decided to take the big step and bottle at least some of his wine. While the bottles may still be few, they are already being talked about. With the 2016 harvest a reserve wine made with grapes from the 130-year-old vines was put away in the cellar along with some Moscato. All we can do now is wait patiently.
