The Tiare is an estate well-known for the quality of its wines and they are considered great Sauvignon specialists, having won the contest for the world’s best Sauvignon several years ago. It is situated in Dolegna, an area of Friuli that is more and more proving to have a terroir particularly suited for Sauvignon and Ribolla and where the estate is producing a style with intense aromas, elegant flavors and a bold drinkability.

Here we look at one of their lesser-known wines, Tiare. This is not a DOC wine but one that has a high level of quality just the same. On the back label is written ‘Vino Sauvignon’, which being 85% of the blend allows it to be considered a varietal wine. The remaining 15% is composed of other Friuli varieties like Ribolla and Friulano. The wine is rigorously fermented in stainless steel vats and spends a few weeks on the lees.
