Angelo D’Uva’s Tintilia of Violets and Blackberries

The estate of Angelo D’Uva pays ample attention to local grapes varieties in a project accenting tradition and territoriality, as demonstrated by Lagena 2015 Tintilia del Molise DOC made from the grape of the same name.
Angelo D’Uva is the third generation of entrepreneurial farmers at an estate founded in the 1940s by his grandfather, who was a native of Sannio but move to Molise. The estate’s 15 hectares of vineyards surround a lovely and functional winery situated in the ancient area of Frentania, near Larino, an art city enclosed by Roman and medieval walls.
Angelo’s entry in the estate was pivotal for carrying out a new project that stressed the rapport between man and nature and began by replanting native grape varieties, like Tintilia. His encounter with enologist Donato di Tommaso was the turning point to complete a program based on tradition and territory. Aside from Tintilia, the estate cultivates the red wine grapes Montepulciano and Cabernet Sauvignon along with the white wine varietals Trebbiano, Malvasia and Chardonnay.
