A maniacal selection of Lacrima di Morro d’Alba grapes is made in the Vigna Paradisio vineyard where the soil is rich in clay. The vineyard has a southwest exposure and is situated in Belvedere Ostrense, on the hills above Senigallia. The grapes are harvested when they are fully ripe and after pressing the wine is kept ‘dirty’ in small barrels for many years. This is more or less the same method Guigal uses with his extraordinary Cote-Rotie. The wine is full of color but less shiny than reds usually made from this grape. The bouquet brings an extraordinary baggage of varietal notes of moss and roses together with more complex ones of leather and dark fruits. The mouthfeel is surprising and while it may lack a little depth, which can be found in the 2009 vintage, it is well worth money.
