Made from Primitivo grapes and matured in barriques for five months, this has a purple color with a ruby edge.
The aroma is direct and fruity with scents of macerated blueberry up front followed by a hint of rust, candied blood orange and a spice note of cumin. The attack of the mouthfeel is fruity and unexpectedly fresh, with an acidity that is not entirely intact that on the one hand adds and on the other takes away a bit of spontaneity. It has a medium structure at the center of the mouth and becomes once again fruity towards the finish with notes of blueberry and blood orange. A wine that is technically exemplary, varietal and pleasing. If it is frankness you’re looking for, then you might not like this. If not, then go for it (and add a couple of points to the rating).
