Made from Verdicchio grapes, 10% of which were picked late, and matured on the lees in stainless steel. Better known for this classic Rosso Conero, which is vaguely Tuscan the tannins and very consistent over the years (especially the splendid Villa Bonomi), Ancona native Maurizio Marchetti has always taken great care in his production of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. This Tenuta del Cavaliere has an expressive aroma of lavender with a touch of mint, a rightfully bitterish mouthfeel that is quite rich and a rounded and very fruity (apricot) but never heavy finish. Pair with second courses of white meat and fish.
