The grapes come from a historic cru with vines that are over 20 years old and the wine exemplifies the characteristics of the area. After aging in Slovenian oak barrels for around a year, the wine then ages at least another year in the bottle. It has a bold and intact ruby color while the aroma is intense, rich and beautifully young. The bouquet includes scents of prune, bramble and blackberry while aging in wood has given it an excellent balsamic and spice component. The mouthfeel is intense and elegant with tannins that are crunchy but in no way sandy and thus will uphold the wine for years to come. The finish is elegant and there is a return of the aromas on a note of blood orange and a light smoked hint. The elegant side of Aglianico comes out in a finish of rare integrity and persistence.
