Made from only Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine ages in barriques for around 14 months. Vintage 2010 marks the beginning of a distinct change in style with the wine having less extracts and wood and more fruit and fragrance. It has a dark yet bright ruby color and an aroma of currant together with a grassy note that is between mint and fennel seed and while it is more suffused than raw, it is a bit strong for a young Akronte. The attack of the mouthfeel does not bite the way young Akronte wines used to and the flavor now lingers on very pleasing dark fruit. The finish has classic notes of leather and cinchona and although the overall structure is respectable, it is less dry than in the past. While there is ample room for improvement, it is already very enjoyable.
