Shame on You
I strongly add my indignation to that expressed by Domenico Zonin, president of the Unione Italiana Vini, when he heard that 33 million euros of contributions from the European Common Market Organization (CMO) for wine were neither allocated nor requested by Italian regions and were thus withdrawn by the European Union and channeled to other countries. It is simply outrageous that so many well-paid and evidently inept public officials, together with an inconclusive political policy, to put it mildly, were not able to come up with projects to qualify for these funds earmarked for the promotion of our wines in other EU countries. Because of inefficiency, ignorance and laziness we were unable to obtain these subsidies. There is no other way to put it also because we are the only EU member which has such macroscopic problems. As always, the responsibility for this debacle will never be ascertained, the incapacity of those who hold posts of responsibility, probably in an inappropriate way, will pass unnoticed or almost. My personal solidarity, as well as that if many of our readers I hope, with Domenico Zonin will not change things, I know. He is a serious person, perhaps one who was born in the wrong county.
