Winegraft: ricominciamo… dalle radici

The (biological) future of the vineyard lies in the "roots" to be able to adapt the vines to the new conditions imposed by the climatic change air pollution of the planet. With this premise, the team of scientists from the University of Milan, coordinated by professor Attilio Scienza, world-renowned expert, starts in the 80's a revolutionary research that led to the new generation of "rootstocks M", improvements than those used today and able to tolerate drought well to withstand high levels of active limestone in the soil.

To financially support research and transfer the results on the market, is established in 2014 - by nine leading wineries in different Italian regions (Ferrari , Zonin , Banfi Società Agricola, Armani Albino, Cantina Due Palme, Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo, Bertani Domains, Neptune Castellare, Cellars Settesoli along with the Venice Foundation and BIOVERDE Trentino) the WINEGRAFT Ltd., thanks to which "in 2016 - said the president of Winegraft Marcello Lunelli, vice president of Cantine Ferrari - we will be able to offer Italian winegrowers, through Cooperative Vivai Rauscedo, over 30,000 cuttings of the main Italian grapes with "rootstocks M" certified by Ipad.Lab."

A health certification and genetic guaranteed from the spin off of the University of Milan, international leader in the field of phyto - diagnostics. "Our commitment to monitor the material that is multiplied in terms of genetic identity and health status, that means absolute absence of disease - said the Chairman of Ipad.Lab , Camilo Gianinazzi - has the objective of giving the winemaker guarantees more than the national certification" .

A project that can raise global leadership in Italian research about grapes that has already met with the interest of French and Spanish producers. In short, a great success of the "vineyard Italy" able to propose also an innovative "business -research model" celebrated the year after Expo.
