The wines designated under the name Toscana IGT have great importance in the panorama of Italian and international wine. Toscana is a name capable of evoking high quality products associated with a territory considered by all to be of great charm. In addition, in the variety of production that the specification allows, this name embodies some of the excellence recognized worldwide in the wine world as a confirmation of its importance.
Following the meeting of 13 March and the first board of directors, the renewal of the top management of the Ente Tutela del vino Toscana IGT for the three-year period 2019-2021 has come to an end. The President is Cesare Cecchi of the homonymous winery based in Castellina in Chianti. The board of directors is composed of eleven members who are, in addition to Cecchi president, two vice presidents, Rosanna Matteoli (president of Cantina Cooperativa del Montalbano) and Paolo Gamberi (manager Frescobaldi) then Davide Ancillotti (president Cantina Cooperativa Chiantigiane), Renzo Cotarella (CEO Antinori), Maria Giulia Frova (owner of Tenuta Il Corno), Luigi Parri (Parri company), Sandro Sartor (CEO Ruffino), Massimo Tuccio (president of Vini di Maremma winery), Enrico Viglierchio (general manager Banfi), Gianni Zipoli (general manager Cooperativa Cantine Leonardo). Director Stefano Campatelli, former director of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino and currently director of the Consorzio della Vernaccia di San Gimignano (position he will hold).
The work to be done now is to work to build an entity able to manage and especially to protect the wine Toscana IGT, trying to promote the inclusion of all those who work in the production chain. It will be a matter of creating a specific identity and increasing the perception outside of this IGT, which together with the designations of origin present in the region, form the mix of products that the Tuscan companies offer the market.
