Vinitaly spostato al 2021

An extraordinary Board of Directors of VeronaFiere postpones Vinitaly 2020 and redefines all the organizational structures and calendars in Italy and abroad.

- The Chairman Danese: "Redefinition of the Group's objectives and strategies to continue its activities in Italy and abroad and to restart promptly when it is fully operational".

- General Manager Mantovani: "The post-emergency for us is called rebirth. Revolutionized the calendar to support the business of companies and sectors. Vinitaly to 2021, on dates already set in next year's calendar: 18-21 April. Extraordinary investments on sector events abroad".

"The persistence of the Coronavirus emergency at national level, with the succession of urgent decrees of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and the more recent spread of the same at European and other levels, have made some decisions impossible to postpone. For these reasons, the Board of Directors, in agreement with the Executive Board and the management, today decided on a number of aspects essential for the continuation of the Group's activities. These include the redefinition of objectives, strategies and investments for the safety of products, its customers and the business in related sectors," stressed Maurizio Danese, President of VeronaFiere.

"We must remember - concludes Danese - that this complex situation has also had a disruptive impact on the European exhibition industry. To date, more than 200 events have been subject to calendar revision, with an overall loss of almost 6 billion euros and 51,400 jobs at risk, without considering the related industries and the loss of 39 billion euros in exports generated by international exhibitions for European SMEs".

Below are the main points of the measures adopted by the Board of Directors of the VeronaFiere Group, which met today in extraordinary session.

For the first time in its history, Vinitaly will also have to postpone its 54th edition. The concomitant Sol&Agrifood and Enolitech are also postponed. The new dates of the events are therefore rescheduled to 18-21 April 2021, while VeronaFiere will concentrate the second part of the year 2020 on supporting the business of Italian companies on the markets.

Giovanni Mantovani, General Director of VeronaFiere, said: "For us, the post-emergency is called rebirth, which we have always hoped would happen in June. But the health crisis has, as is clear to all, definitely worsened and what initially seemed possible is no longer possible. In agreement with the supply chain organisations, Vinitaly, Sol&Agrifood and Enolitech are therefore moving on to next year. For this reason - concludes Mantovani -, in addition to working with extraordinary investments on our international events Vinitaly Chengdu, Vinitaly China Road Show, Wine South America (23-25 September 2020), Vinitaly Russia (26 and 28 October 2020), Vinitaly Hong Kong (5-7 November 2020), Wine To Asia (9-11 November 2020) and the initiatives of the Vinitaly International Academy, we are making ourselves available to the sector and the promotion system to consider the creation of an innovative event next autumn at the service of companies".

The decision to reposition Vinitaly in 2021 was taken in agreement with the representatives of the sector associations: Ernesto Abbona, president of Unione Italiana Vini, Riccardo Ricci Curbastro, president of Federdoc, Riccardo Cotarella, president of Assoenologi, Sandro Boscaini, president of Federvini and Luca Rigotti, wine sector coordinator Alleanza Cooperative.
