Concorso Internazionale Vermentino 2022

The second edition of the International Wine Competition on Vermentino, sponsored by the Region of Sardinia, the Municipality of Cagliari, the LAORE agency and Coldiretti Sardegna, will be held in Cagliari, Sardinia, on 24th and 25th of June.

Agriculture, Food and Tourism of the Italian Republic had approved it on the occasion of the first edition in 2020. Vermentino is one of the best-known and well-known grapes in the entire Mediterranean basin and in Italy as well as abroad, more and more producers are focusing on variety.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Tourism of the Italian Republic had approved it on the occasion of the first edition in 2020. Vermentino is one of the best-known and well-known grapes in the entire Mediterranean basin and in Italy as well as abroad, more and more producers are focusing on variety.

In addition to Sardinia, Tuscany and Liguria, says Mario Bonamici, president of APS Promo Eventi, is spreading to other Italian regions and, of course, abroad. The aim is to make the competition increasingly important and attended by a large number of producers. Internationally, the focus is on the well-established production from Corsica and the south of France, the interesting and promising producers from America and Australia, with a few outsiders from South Africa and Malta. There is a lot of expectation and excitement for this second edition. The companies are very keen to get involved, also in the light of the complicated period that we hope to have definitively left behind. We will do our utmost not to disappoint expectations.
The website www.concorsovermentino.com provides all the information you need to download the application forms. Applications must be received by 20th May 2022, while there is time until 10th June to send in the samples. Several categories will be admitted to the competition, from still wines to sparkling and semi-sparkling wines that fall under PDO, PGI and GI provided they have the words Vermentino on the label and a minimum percentage of Vermentino of 85%. The Organizers expect around 300 samples.
to take part.
