Soave: vineyard register

Having finally established the Veneto Region's vineyard register, Soave thus closes a year of changes to the regulations for the enhancement of the territory.
There are 25 first "vineyards" of Soave. With a decree of the Veneto Region, the vineyards were established, an instrument of valorization provided for by Law 238/2016 (Testo Unico della Vite e del Vino) which provides for the wording "vineyard" on the label for wines that come from micro plots of great historical value for the denomination and that are vinified separately from the rest of the company's production.
The vineyards included in the regional list are called Albare, Calvarino, Campo Le Calle, Casette, Cavecchia, Cengelle, Cervare, Colbaraca, Colle Sant'Antonio, Contrada Salvarenza old vineyards, I Tarai, La Rocca, Le Caselle, Monte Bisson, Monte Ceriani, Motto Piane, Pressi, Roccolo, San Pietro, Val Grande, Vigna della Corte, Vigne della Brà, Vigne delle Brà, Vigne delle Fate, Vigne di Sande, and belong to the oenological history of a territory such as Soave, which for more than 200 years ago has been its strong point in terms of parcelling and great differentiation between soils, altitudes and exposures. A process that lasted twenty years from the first zones carried out in the Soave area and that in 2019 was completed first with the introduction of the 33 Additional Geographical Units and then with the "vineyards". A revolution therefore for the area that sees the production of premium wines in the denomination valorized in a defined way, and that the consumer will be able to appreciate directly on the label of the products.
The work of the Consorzio del Soave and all its producers, who since the early 2000s have made the enhancement of the landscape a workhorse and who are working to improve and preserve it through specific protection projects. In fact, after the recognition as a Global Agricultural Heritage by the FAO, several very innovative research projects have been activated. In particular Soilution System, which deals with soil erosion and hydrogeological instability in a synergistic way. Ithaca, on the other hand, provides for the construction of fixed plants for phytosanitary treatments in steeply sloping vineyards. Other specific promotion projects will come to life in 2020, both in Europe and in Third Countries, where the Additional Geographical Units and the "vineyards" will be the protagonists of the Soave story.
"A year of great work is drawing to a close for the Consorzio Tutela del Soave - says Sandro Gini, president of the Consortium - which has seen the team committed both to promotion, especially in Japan and England, and to protection, also in the environmental/landscape sense. Next year we will bring these great news all over the world with a project linked to heroic volcanic agriculture together with international partners. We are therefore ready to face 2020 with great enthusiasm and a new beautiful story to tell".
