Sicily’s Menfi is the Italian City of Wine 2023

The handover took place in Duino Aurisina (Trieste) during the Convention of the National Association of 470 Wine and Wine Tourism Municipalities, in the presence of the respective mayors.
Igor Gabrovec, mayor of Duino Aurisina, Friuli Venezia Giulia's Wine City that held the scepter for 2023, passed it on to Marilena Mauceri, mayor of Menfi, an important wine-producing territory in the Terre Sicane, in the province of Agrigento.
The Fall Convention of the National Association of Wine Cities thus concluded at the Pavilion of Portopiccolo in Sistiana. There were 130 delegates from all over Italy hosted in Duino Aurisina-Devin Nabrezina, which thus concludes its year as Italian Wine City 2022, a true national capital for wine culture and cultivation. The flag handover witnessed with the passing of the baton with Menfi.
During the Convention, Senator Dario Stefàno, father of the law on wine tourism, was appointed Ambassador of the Wine Cities for his closeness to the activities and values of the National Association of Italian Wine Municipalities, as indeed demonstrated by the collaboration started already last year for the drafting of the National Observatory on Wine Tourism, making an important contribution on the regulatory aspects of the sector.
The work of the Convention was also an opportunity to introduce delegates to cultural places and wineries throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia through sightseeing tours from Thursday, November 17 to Sunday, November 20.
