Castello La Leccia Chianti

A friendly and welcoming hospitality with 17 rooms, a restaurant, a swimming pool, a spa and a terrace overlooking the Tuscan countryside.

Castello la Leccia stands on a hill 500 meters above sea level, 2 kilometers from Castellina in Chianti. Written historical sources mention the La Leccia Castle since 1077. Around the mid 1400’s, the castle, as well as most of the Chianti Classico area, was annexed to the dominion of the Ricasoli family. During the XVIII Century, the castle with its hamlet began to take on the appearance of a manor house due to the modification of part of the structure. In 1920 by the Daddi family purchased the property. After a long and careful restoration, Francesco Daddi returned the castle to its ancient splendor in 2012. In 2018, the baton was passed to the Swiss Sonderegger family who, with the same passion and commitment of former times, now manages Castello la Leccia.

The complex offers hospitality with 17 rooms, a restaurant, a swimming pool, a spa and a terrace overlooking the Tuscan countryside. La Leccia's accommodations feature a unique design. Some boast original stucco work and four-poster beds.

The restaurant serves traditional Tuscan cuisine using produce from local producers in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. The breakfast buffet, served in the part of the villa once used as a lemon house, includes sweet and savory products, including homemade cakes, Tuscan bread, fresh fruit, cheeses and charcuterie. The property organizes tastings of organic wine and olive oil of its own production.

The company, certified organic, covers 170 hectares of which 17 are vineyards to produce Chianti Classico, 10 hectares of olive groves and the remaining of woods. The vineyards are in five different areas around the Castle between 300 and 500 meters above sea level. The soil is rich in clay, limestone, and marl. Thanks to this terroir the Sangiovese offers versatility, expressing complexity and elegance.
