Cronche di Gusto (Taste News)

Even if it does not happen often and is not an easy thing to do, I believe it is a good thing to recognize that there are some people who are better than you are in regard to certain aspects of your profession. In the food and wine sector there are some very qualified people who edit news sites, blogs and web magazines and are, in certain ways, better than we are at Doctor Wine in evaluating wines, olive oils and beers.
For example, Alessandro Regoli’s Wine News is very well done and extremely useful and I consider it to be by far the best Italian site for information on wine. The blogs of Luciano Pignataro and Franco Ziliani are very effective even if they are quite different and as long as they don’t fall into the trap of getting into local or personal polemics, which would uselessly damage their authoritativeness. Even Intravino, which is never kind with yours truly, sometimes has original and interesting points of view, even if they are presented in a ‘modern’ prose that does not coincide with the age of those writing it.
But the web magazine, thus a publication most similar to Doctor Wine, that I like the most is Fabrizio Carrera’sCronache del Gusto (Taste News). He is a veteran journalist, assignment editor at Giornale di Sicilia, and his professionalism stands out on his site. He deals with food and comments on the news more than we do but perhaps reviews products less. But it just because of this that I feel we complement each other. Thus given the reciprocal respect which unites us, I thought it would be a good thing if we exchanged articles from time to time. Doctor Wine can contribute some editorials and particularly interesting tasting reports, while Fabrizo Carrera could offer us some of his in-depth stories and even select articles by his collaborators. I hope both our and his readers will like this idea also because it reflects a shared desire to improve and enrich the service we try to give them.
