Anti-Camorra Mozzarella

For once I will not talk to you about wine and will blatantly publisize a good person whose name is Roberto Battaglia and who is the owner-operator of the Caseificio La Latteria della Bufala in Capua. He is a good and brave person because of the interview he gave to Natascha Lusenti (who used to work for the Gambero Rosso channel, remember? But who also worked with Michele Santoro on the program Atlantide on the La 7 channel) during the La 7 program Gli Intoccabili (The Untouchables). In the interview Roberto Battaglia bravely and openly spoke out about a number of incidents and of people who linked several mozzarella producers with organized crime. It is obvious that not all cheese-markers in the Caserta area, in fact we hope only a few, are linked with or have contact with these gangsters. Nevertheless, after hearing Roberto Battaglia speak out I decided to make a small order of his mozzarella and ricotta cheeses to taste them myself. The treccia was excellent, the bocconcini good and the ricotta sensational, perhaps the best I have ever tasted. I also gave a taste to several friends who are more qualified than me, including Alessandro Roscioli, owner of the famous delicatessen on via dei Giubbonari in Rome, and their opinion was the same as mine. And so I make this exception and take my hat off to Roberto Battaglia for being an excellent producer of cheese made from buffalo milk and, above all, for being a brave and good person.
