An original Rosso Piceno: Polisia from Vigneti Vallorani

Vigneti Vallorani has a small but quality line of production that includes a Rosso Piceno Superiore, Polisia, which is an interesting interpretation of the local DOC appellation.

The Vallorani family has made a name for itself in recent years for it small, in terms of quantity, production of excellent quality Piceno wines, both the reds and whites. The organic cultivation of the grapes is followed by a spot-on approach in the winery with many wines subjected to cold temperatures during the pre-fermentation phase and the wine sitting on the lees during maturation. This is a reasonable method to use and opens new possibilities for an area where the wine never lacks structure, even in cold and rainy years, but often leaves something to be desired in terms of drinkability, above all in regard to the reds.

Another winning move is to use Sangiovese which in this area rarely produces favorable results as a single-grape wine but is a great partner, offering a floral component and drinkability, for Montepulciano that here reaches an incredible concentration, often at the expense of being pleasing.

The estate belongs to TerroirMarche, an association composed of the top small producers in Piceno and Castelli di Jesi and that promotes its wines with a wonderful travelling event in the Marche region, usually in the spring.
