A virtuous mix

Più che rumors è Baccano

I hardly ever write about restaurants or wine bars preferring to leave this to those more expert than myself. However, I do know a thing or two about them and sometimes I will make an exception to the rule. In this case the subject is a true trend phenomenon and a success sensation, a multifunctional restaurant called Baccano that is located a stone’s throw from the Trevi Fountain in Rome.

It is a virtuous mix of a very efficient location, a menu offered at reasonable prices, professional and quick service, an ample wine list with surprisingly convenient prices and a long, 10-meter bar where in the morning you can have breakfast and in the evening enjoy excellently prepared cocktails. It is open from 10 in the morning to around one at night.

The result of this winning combination is an overwhelming success with hundreds of meals served daily and some 45,000 bottles of wine sold in 2015, almost 100 a day. This is a modern, functional and efficient place where you can spend only a few euros for a sandwich and a beer or over 100 euros for dinner with top-quality wines. Baccano is a not only a response to the economic crisis but also a clear example of how offering the public what it wants is always a winning ticket.
