The authenticity of Fattoria del Teso Vinsanto
Fattoria del Teso produces a Vinsanto DOC in the hills around Montecarlo, in the province of Lucca, and vintage 2001, which only recently came out, is lip-smacking good.
The hills around Montecarlo, a town in the province if Lucca, has a winemaking history that is well over 1,000 years old. In fact, it appears that grapes were cultivated there already in Roman times when the town was named Viviaia. Wine continued to be made there over the centuries and its production at Fattoria del Teso can be documented back to Medieval times. The estate’s lands were prized and owned at different times by local nobles and the Church.
The wine estate’s current conformation dates back to the beginning 1970s with the Chiomenti family constantly committed to maintaining cutting-edge technology in the vineyards, today some 15 hectares, as well as during winemaking, carried out under the supervision of enologist Francesco Bartoletti.
